Not a whole lot of pictures were taken this week, but a lot of laughs were had. Whether it was Tate informing me that he loves short stories but was concerned that I wasn’t familiar with that genre to Lulu deciding that she is definitely getting a dog because she saw three on the way home from football practice (she told me that’s how Eric decided to grow a beard, so the same must be true in this situation). And of course, what with us finally being in October, there was a whole lot of Halloween talk. Tate can hardly wait to make his costume. He was super excited to have time with Saskia because “she is epic at making Halloween costumes”.
Morning drop off was a bit rough this week. Lulu has been very nervous to go to school, but on Thursday, she was extra brave. We got there about 5 minutes early and she went to the playground all by herself to play and told me I didn’t need to stay until the bell rang. Progress!
They both did an excellent job at keeping up with their chores this week. Lulu even took on a little extra work and helped make lunches a few times 🙂
And of course any free moment we had was filled with an Annie performance
Getting back into a good school routine and adjusted to a new class can be rough (which we learned this past week), but luckily we had football practice, menchie runs, and just some good old giggles to break up the “back into the swing of things blues”….
those socks were a huge hit this week
tying your shoes is so much faster when you work together
Tate the rockstar…who only sings Death Cab for Cutie
Mechie’s is the cure for a rough day at school
Some things I learned on Tate and Lulu’s last day of school…
1. “You can’t call us 1st and 3rd graders until after our first day of school”-Tate. Won’t make that mistake again
2. Tate’s two favorite things about 2nd grade were forming the Punchkins group and studying whales
3. Lulu’s favorite things were art and playing on the bars…no surprise there 🙂
But above all…they are so excited IT’S SUMMER! Time to be footless and fancy free
celebrating summer on their homemade swings
No better way to kick off summer than a trip to the strawberry patch and picnic in the park with your cousins! Tate had a good time up until his shoes started to give him blisters. “Day 1 of summer and I already have an injury”-Tate. Luckily, I think that injury paid off when we walked away with 7 lbs of fresh strawberries. Lulu the berry monster was in 7th heaven…I thought she might eat them all on the way home!
these two went back and forth between picking the berries and jumping from row to row as fast as they could
And of course a long and hard days work in the field calls for some celebratory menchies….
Our second day of summer and final day together started with a lazy morning and then we proceeded to hop from park to park. We spent most of our time at QAE where we found ourselves in a riveting game of basketball. Tate so kindly gave me lots of advice on how to be better and informed me I need to trust him on this since he is going to be in the NBA on day
played too hard
lunch in the backyard with fancy drinks makes for two happy kiddos
We eventually found ourselves at the farmers market. “That ice cream truck over there is calling my name!”-Tate. Well when the ice cream tuck calls, obviously you must go!
Oh how I am going to miss those two!
